Rookie wide receiver Christian Kirk spoke to reporters for the first time since reports surfaced of his Feb. 3 arrest outside the Waste Management Phoenix Open golf tournament on charges of destruction of property and disorderly conduct. He and a friend had been accused of throwing rocks at cars. Police said Kirk appeared intoxicated at the time.
The charges were later dropped.
Obviously there was a negative response to it, Kirk, a second-round draft pick out of Texas A&M, said of the publicity surrounding the incident. But you’ve just got to block those things out and hold true to who you are and move on.
Kirk was a top high school prospect born and raised in Scottsdale, Arizona. The Cardinals said they knew of the arrest when they drafted him but said they were confident it was not indicative of a larger problem.
Notes: Left tackle Taylor Lewan and wide receiver Corey Davis were not at Tuesday’s session. Vrabel said he had heard from the players not in attendance. … Linebacker Kevin Dodd, the No. 33 pick overall in 2016, has been missing in action during the three organized team activity sessions open to reporters. Vrabel said Tuesday he could end the mystery because Dodd wasn’t around. The upcoming minicamp is mandatory.
It was awesome, Adam Thielen said of the time that he and Stefon Diggs spent working out with Cousins in Atlanta, via Sid Hartman of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. I think the biggest part of that was to get to know him on a personal level and just try to get that first initiation of how he likes guys to run routes and what he feels comfortable doing, and then just try to get on the same page. I think it was a really good start for Diggs and I to get a jump start on that.
Part of the transition entails getting to know how Cousins does things, especially when the Vikings receivers have had in little more than two calendar years to work with Teddy Bridgewater, Shaun Hill, Sam Bradford, and Case Keenum.
